HSE Expert / Safety Coordinator
Safety starts before the construction site.

CFE Finland Oy is looking for an HSE and construction safety professional to join demanding energy infrastructure and construction projects.
Your role will focus on owner-side safety coordination and HSE responsibilities in projects involving multiple designers, contractors and other stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who sees safety as an integral part of project management, not simply as site supervision. The greatest impact on safety is often made before construction begins – through engineering, procurement, the choice of execution methods and ensuring that contractors are properly prepared before the first work activities start.
CFE acts as an independent owner-side advisor. In this role, you will work closely with the client's project organisation and collaborate with Project Managers, designers, site supervisors, contractors and the client's own HSE organisation.
-
Depending on the project and your experience, you may work as a Safety Coordinator, owner's HSE specialist or in an HSE site supervision role.
Your responsibilities may include, for example:
acting as the client's Safety Coordinator
defining project HSE requirements and monitoring their implementation
assessing safety risks related to engineering and construction activities
reviewing contractors' safety plans, work methods and risk assessments
conducting site safety walks and inspections and managing safety observations
reviewing the preparation of demanding or safety-critical work activities
coordinating safety interfaces between the client, principal contractor and other contractors
investigating incidents and accidents and following up corrective actions
HSE reporting and providing the client with an up-to-date overview of safety performance
developing site safety culture and working practices
ensuring that safety is considered throughout the project lifecycle, from engineering to construction and handover.
The exact focus of the role can be tailored around your experience. Your strengths may lie, for example, in safety coordination, site HSE supervision, owner's construction management, industrial or infrastructure environments, or the development of HSE management practices.
-
We are looking for someone with practical experience in safety roles within construction, infrastructure, industrial, energy or other demanding project environments.
You have a good understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the client, Safety Coordinator and principal contractor, as well as practical experience in managing safety within projects.
We particularly value the ability to identify significant safety risks, address them early enough and ensure that the necessary actions are implemented together with the project organisation.
The role requires you to be comfortable working both on construction sites and with clients and project management teams. Fluent Finnish and English are required.

Safety is part of project management
At CFE, HSE is not a separate support function operating alongside the project. Safety Coordinators and HSE specialists work together with Project Managers, designers and site supervisors.
This gives you the opportunity to influence safety before risks become visible on site.
You work for the owner's objectives
You work as an independent specialist on the client's side. Your role is to help the client ensure that safety responsibilities, working practices and practical implementation form a consistent and effective approach throughout the project.
You see more than the construction site
Your involvement may begin during the engineering and project preparation phases and continue through construction and commissioning.
You will see how engineering decisions, procurement, schedules, work methods and contractual interfaces affect safety in practice.
You can influence how the work is done
CFE operates in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and we continuously develop our ways of working.
In addition to project delivery, you can contribute to developing our owner-side HSE and safety coordination practices, risk management, site supervision and safety procedures, while supporting and sparring with the rest of the team.
You work with specialists across different disciplines
Our projects bring together Project Managers, site supervisors and specialists from different technical disciplines. Safety does not need to be managed separately from the rest of the project – it is integrated into the overall project delivery.
