CFE Finland Oy is looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional to join our Grid Manager, substation and BESS projects.
Depending on your background and expertise, your role can focus on grid connections, substations, BESS systems or technical project management. We are not looking for someone who already knows everything. We are looking for strong electrical engineering expertise and the ability to take responsibility for demanding technical scopes.
CFE acts as an independent owner-side technical advisor in energy and electrical infrastructure projects. We work with Finnish and international clients on 110–400 kV grid connections, substations and overhead lines, BESS projects, renewable energy projects and data centre electrical infrastructure.
In this role, your technical responsibility will not be isolated from the rest of the project. You will also gain visibility into engineering, procurement, grid operator interfaces, construction, commissioning and client decision-making.

Depending on the project and your experience, you will work as the client's technical expert, Grid Manager or Project Manager.
Your responsibilities may include, for example:
technical management of substation and BESS projects
coordination of grid connection processes
collaboration with clients, Fingrid, distribution system operators, designers and contractors
technical specification of electrical systems and coordination of engineering
expert tasks related to main transformers, switchgear, protection and automation
preparation of tender documentation and procurement materials
review of designs and technical solutions from the owner's perspective
technical support during construction and commissioning
management of schedules, costs and technical interfaces
coordination of Grid Code requirements and other grid connection requirements
acting as the client's Owner's Engineer or Grid Manager.
The role can be tailored according to your expertise. Your strengths may lie, for example, in substations, grid connections, BESS solutions, protection and automation, or technical project management.

We are looking for an electrical engineering professional with practical experience in technical expert and project roles.
You have a relevant electrical engineering degree and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
110–400 kV substations
high-voltage systems
grid connections
BESS projects
main transformers and other major power system components
protection and automation systems
commissioning and testing.
Your background may be in engineering and design, a grid company, owner's engineering, contracting, an equipment supplier, consulting or project development.
We value the ability to take responsibility for technical scopes, make well-founded decisions and discuss the same technical issues effectively with clients, designers, grid operators and site teams.
We work with both Finnish and international clients and partners, so fluent Finnish and English are required for the role.

Technical expertise remains at the core of your work
This is not a Project Manager role where the technical content is handled by others. Even when you are responsible for a project or a broader scope, your own electrical engineering expertise remains an essential part of the work.
You see beyond your own area of responsibility
A grid connection is linked to the substation. The substation is linked to procurement and construction. BESS is linked to the grid, protection and control systems. At CFE, these interfaces come together within the same projects.
You work for the owner's objectives
CFE acts as an independent owner-side technical advisor. We do not sell equipment or construction contracts. Our role is to evaluate alternatives and technical solutions from the perspective of the client's technical, commercial and schedule objectives.

As an experienced professional, you can contribute not only to project delivery but also to developing our ways of working and service models in grid connection, substation and BESS projects, while supporting and sparring with the rest of the team.

Our projects bring together specialists in substations, overhead lines, grid connections, project management, site supervision and safety. The expertise you need is close by, and technical interfaces are solved together.

Practical information
Our offices are located in Oulu, Kuopio and Vantaa. We work flexibly from our offices, remotely and at project sites. Other locations may also be possible depending on the role and the practical needs of the projects.
Location: Oulu / Kuopio / Vantaa / negotiable
Travel: The role includes site visits, but most of the work is carried out at the office or remotely.
